Privacy Policy

Gila Guide is designed so your health-tracking records remain on your iPhone unless you deliberately export or share them.

Who operates Gila Guide

Gila Guide is operated by Good Machines LLC. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@gilaguide.app.

Information stored by the app

Gila Guide lets you record nutrition, water, symptoms, medications, injection sites, optional weight, goals, reminders, and visit notes. These records and related preferences are stored locally in the app on your iPhone. Gila Guide does not require an account and does not operate a server that receives these health logs in this release.

When you email support

If you email support, your email address, message, and any attachments are sent to our Google Workspace support inbox. Google processes these messages to provide email hosting; other email providers may process them during delivery. We use support correspondence to respond to requests and resolve technical, purchase, or privacy issues. Access is limited to people authorized to handle these requests. This information is separate from the health records stored locally in Gila Guide. Emailing us does not give us access to the records on your iPhone.

Please send only the information needed to explain your technical or purchase question. Do not send health logs, medication details, symptom notes, clinician PDFs, backup files, or recovery keys. For questions about information you have sent to support, including a deletion request, contact support@gilaguide.app. Deleting records in the app does not delete email you have already sent.

Our retention policy is to review resolved support cases monthly and delete routine correspondence once 12 months have passed since resolution. We may retain the minimum information necessary for an unresolved dispute, a legal obligation, or a documented legal hold, and review those exceptions separately. You may request earlier deletion. We will explain any information we need to retain. Provider backup copies may remain temporarily under the provider's deletion processes; deletion cannot recall recipients' copies.

Smart text and voice entry

Clear Smart Entry phrases are interpreted directly on your device. On eligible devices, Apple's on-device language model may help interpret more complex wording. Voice entry uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. Gila Guide does not send Smart Entry text, speech, or interpreted health entries to Gila Guide servers. The app shows an editable proposal and saves only after you confirm it.

When the on-device model is used, it also receives your active medication names and selected water-bottle size to help interpret your entry. This processing happens on your device.

Ask Gila

Ask Gila is a read-only tool for factual summaries of information you already recorded. It can use nutrition, symptom, medication-event, optional weight, and goal records stored locally on your iPhone. It does not read visit notes or change your records.

On eligible devices, Apple's on-device language model receives the text of your question and the prior supported question topic, if any, solely to classify the question into a limited record-summary category. Your question includes any health information you type into it. Gila Guide does not automatically attach saved health-record values to that prompt; app code calculates the displayed facts locally. If the Apple model is unavailable, supported questions use local rule-based interpretation instead. Ask Gila does not use Private Cloud Compute, a third-party AI provider, or a Gila Guide server.

Questions and replies are held temporarily while the Ask Gila screen is in use. They are not written to Gila Guide's database or stored as a persistent chat history. Gila Guide does not receive them and does not use them to train an AI model.

Suggested questions and questions you type use the same record-summary boundaries. Possible patterns describe recorded differences, do not establish causes, and must not be used to change medication, diet, or care. Ask Gila is limited to describing records and is not medical advice or emergency help. It does not provide diagnosis, treatment, dosage, medication, risk, safety, or urgency decisions. Do not start, stop, skip, delay, or change medication or a dose based on Ask Gila.

Recorded comparisons

Gila Guide processes nutrition, symptom, and goal records on your iPhone to calculate comparisons between groups of recorded days. These derived comparisons may appear in Insights, Ask Gila, and clinician PDFs you choose to create. They describe your entries, do not establish causes, and do not assess whether symptoms are safe. You can turn these calculations off in You → Recorded comparisons. This stops new recorded comparisons in Insights, Ask Gila, and PDF exports; logging, charts, and ordinary summaries remain available. This choice stays on your device and is preserved when you delete records or import a backup. Files you previously shared are not recalled.

Purchases

Apple processes Gila Guide Pro purchases through the App Store. The app uses StoreKit to check verified purchase entitlements. Gila Guide does not receive your health records as part of a purchase. Apple's handling of App Store account and transaction information is governed by Apple's policies.

Sharing and exported files

Health records leave through actions you choose, such as creating an encrypted Gila backup or sharing a clinician PDF through the iOS share sheet. Device backups may separately include app preferences, as described below. You choose the destination or recipient. After a file is exported, that destination or recipient controls the copy, and deleting information from Gila Guide does not delete copies stored elsewhere.

Gila Guide's local health-record database is excluded from operating-system backup and is not configured to synchronize through CloudKit. Gila Guide does not provide automatic cross-device health-log synchronization in this release. Some app preferences may still be included in device backups. Gila's record database uses iPhone data protection so it cannot be read while your iPhone is locked. If you lose or replace your phone or delete the app, you need a Gila encrypted backup and its recovery key to restore your records. Gila cannot recover a missing backup or key. Keep the file and key safe, separate from each other and from your phone.

Encrypted backups contain all dates of nutrition, symptoms, medication plans and logs, goals, and weight, including notes attached to entries. Separate visit notes are included only if you turn on that option. Anyone with both the backup file and recovery key can read it.

If you choose Remember on this iPhone, your recovery key is kept in that iPhone's Keychain so later backups don't need it re-entered. It is available only while the iPhone is unlocked, is not synced to iCloud Keychain, and is not included in iPhone backups. iOS can keep it after the app is deleted; use Forget key on this iPhone or Delete all local records to remove it.

Clinician PDFs are not password-protected. They contain the report sections and record date range you select. Individually selected visit notes may be outside that range, and the optional possible-patterns section includes symptom and goal comparisons. Review the contents and recipient before sharing; use your provider's secure patient portal when available. Gila cannot recall or delete copies you save or share.

Analytics, advertising, and sale of data

The Gila Guide iPhone app does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not sell your health records, Smart Entry content, or Ask Gila questions; use them for cross-app tracking; or build advertising profiles from them.

Your choices and deletion

You can edit or delete individual records in the app. You can also use You → Delete all local records to delete the Gila records stored on that iPhone. This also clears drafts and open chat history, resets health-related settings, and removes scheduled and delivered Gila reminders, temporary PDFs, and any recovery key remembered on that iPhone. If temporary cleanup fails, the app asks you to retry. Display units, completed onboarding, and your app-lock setting are kept. Deleting records does not cancel an App Store subscription. Deleting the app removes its local app container. Files you previously exported remain under the control of their destination and must be deleted there separately.

Because this release has no Gila account or health-log server, there is no server-side health profile for us to retrieve or delete.

Adults 18 and older

Gila Guide is intended for adults 18 and older in the United States. It is not intended for anyone under 18. The app does not ask you to enter your birth date or upload identity documents. If you believe someone under 18 has provided personal information to our support team, email us so we can address the request.

Before opening your records, Gila Guide asks Apple for an age range to check adult eligibility. The app uses the result only to decide access during the current session; it does not save the age range or transmit it to a Gila Guide server. Access remains locked if Apple does not share an age range confirming you are 18 or older. The check runs again automatically when you return to the app; after you first share your age range, Apple usually answers without showing anything. Gila Guide requires iOS 26 or later. Apple handles its own account and age-assurance processes under Apple's policies. An access denial does not delete existing records.

Security

Optional app lock uses Face ID, Touch ID, or your iPhone passcode. Enable or disable it in You → App lock after authenticating. Gila does not receive or store your passcode or biometric data. Anyone who knows your iPhone passcode can also unlock Gila. App lock does not protect copies you have exported.

Gila Guide relies on iOS app-container protections for locally stored records. User-created Gila backup files are encrypted before export. No method of storage is completely secure, so you should protect access to your device and any files you export.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. We will update the effective date on this page. If a future feature sends information to a Gila Guide service, we will update this policy and provide any required notice or consent before that processing begins.
